Pfister Metall relies on the KAESER AIRTOWER 26 – for efficient, safe and sustainable compressed air in its machinery

Compressed air plays a central role in modern sheet metal processing – from automated material handling to precise machine loading. A constant, high-quality compressed air supply is essential for reliable and efficient production processes. At Pfister Metall, a modern compressed air station ensures optimal support for processes such as laser cutting, punching, and machine loading and unloading. The investment in a new compressed air solution contributes significantly to operational reliability and energy efficiency in the manufacturing process.

Challenge

Compressed air is not only required for laser cutting, it is also used specifically in many other processes. For example, material handling is no longer conceivable without compressed air. In the past, employees had to use great strength and additional tools to handle the sometimes heavy sheets. Thanks to the latest technology, this is a thing of the past. Whereas in the past countless tons of material had to be stored manually using forklifts and cranes, today a large-scale storage system serves as material storage. This fully automated storage system not only offers space for several hundred tons of sheet metal, finished parts, scrap skeletons and tubular profiles, it also supplies the machines with the required material. Today the punching and laser combination machines have a large number of vacuum suction cups which use compressed air to pick up sheets and place them on the machine for processing. Finished parts are sorted and placed at a predetermined unloading point. Optimal loading and unloading of the machines is therefore only possible here with a suitable compressed air station.

Solution statement

  • Compressed air must always be available in sufficient quantities to reliably meet demand for smooth production processes.
  • Equally important is the application-specific, condensate-free quality of the compressed air: This increases the operational reliability of Pfister Metall's state-of-the-art machinery and significantly reduces the company's maintenance costs.
  • The new compressed air station opens up enormous savings potential; an older piston compressor was replaced due to its high mileage to prevent age-related failure.
  • The piston compressor was replaced with a KAESER AIRTOWER 26 rotary screw compressor.
