Lock nuts
The versatility of the locknut: functions and applications
The locknut is an often overlooked component that is crucial in many bolting applications. In our store you will find locknuts with G and metric threads that secure screw connections and prevent unintentional loosening.
Basic function of the locknut
The main task of a locknut is to secure another nut and therefore the entire screw connection. These nuts play an important role in preventing self-loosening, particularly in screw connections where mechanical forces, such as vibrations, act.
Correct installation of the locknut
The locknut is screwed directly onto the bolt after the main nut has been tightened. It exerts continuous pressure on the main nut, ensuring that it always remains in place.
Applications for locknuts
Locknuts are indispensable in numerous applications, especially where safety and stability are required and mechanical forces are at work. A common example is the strain relief of cables, where the locknut made of brass or corrosion-resistant stainless steel is used, often in the electrical industry.
We offer lock nuts in various sizes and materials:
- Brass: Often nickel-plated, temperature-resistant from -60 to 200 °C.
- Stainless steel: Particularly durable and corrosion-resistant, available in sizes such as M12, M16, M20, M25 and M50 as well as different thicknesses (1.5 mm, 2.8 mm, 5 mm).
The locknut plays an essential role in the security and stability of bolted connections, from the electrical industry to industrial manufacturing. We are happy to help you select the right locknut in the right size and material to ensure a secure bolted joint.
