Pressure switches
Pressure switches - Versatile solutions for hydraulic and pneumatic applications
In our online store, we offer you a wide selection of pressure switches for use in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. You will find both mechanical and electrical pressure switches in our range.
Areas of application for pressure switches
Pressure switches are crucial for pressure monitoring in various systems, such as compressors and pump systems. They trigger at defined pressure limits to ensure the safety of the systems.
Functionality of mechanical pressure switches
Mechanical pressure switches react to the process pressure, whereby the measuring elements are either pistons or diaphragms, depending on the design. Diaphragm pressure switches are often used in systems with low pressures, while pressure pistons are used for higher pressures. You can view the permissible pressure ranges of the switches on the product page in our online store. Pay attention to information such as "low pressure range" and the respective pressure intervals in bar.
Setting the spring force
The force of the preloaded spring can be adjusted using the adjustment screw on the pressure switch. A strongly preloaded spring requires the measuring device to apply more force, which leads to a higher switching point. The geometry of the spring and the degree of preload determine the switching point. If the pressure increases, the switching point is reached, and if the pressure decreases, the reset point is restored.
Selecting the correct setting range
When selecting the appropriate setting range, you should take the maximum system pressure into account. The overload protection should always be above the specified setting range in order to effectively absorb pressure peaks. This is particularly important for ensuring the idle protection mechanisms in pumps, as it helps to prevent damage to the system.
Features of electronic pressure switches
Electronic pressure switches are a modern alternative to mechanical versions and are often equipped with digital displays. These offer the advantage of a faster response compared to mechanical pressure switches and prevent impact wear, which extends the service life of the devices.
Important criteria when selecting pressure switches
Pay attention to the following points when making your selection:
- Temperature range: Specify both the minimum and maximum temperatures for operation.
- Pressure range: Exceeding or falling below the permissible pressure can lead to damage.
- Material: High-quality materials such as hardened stainless steel are particularly resistant to moisture and chemicals, while galvanized steel ensures robustness.
