The KNOLL 3-in-1 Filling/Bypass Filter Unit with Particle Monitoring combines three hydraulic oil maintenance functions in a single mobile unit: draining used oil, bypass filtration during operation, and filtered filling and pre-cleaning of fresh oil. Compared to the base model, oil purity monitoring is factory-integrated here—the purity class is displayed directly on the unit without the need for separate sampling. Measuring and Documenting Oil Purity According to ISO 4406

MP Filtri’s integrated particle counter measures oil cleanliness and reports the cleanliness class in accordance with ISO 4406, AS 4059E, and NAS 1638. It also displays the water content as a percentage. This allows for an objective assessment of the condition of the hydraulic oil, rather than determining change intervals based on empirical values. For industrial hydraulics, purity class 17/15/12 according to ISO 4406 is typically the target, while for servo hydraulics, the target is 15/13/10.

Flushing Based on Target Value Rather Than on a Schedule

Because the purity class is displayed in real time during circulation, a rinse cycle ends as soon as the required value is reached. This saves runtime compared to fixed time settings and simultaneously documents the result—for example, during the commissioning flush of new systems or as proof for the machine manufacturer under warranty. Even after component damage, this method allows you to verify whether the abrasion has been completely removed from the system.

Technical Specifications

Flow rate 6–36 l/min, continuously adjustable via a potentiometer. Power supply 230 V. Hengst filter elements ranging from 3 µm to 10 µm, filter material: glass fiber, filter area: 1,572.37 cm², permissible differential pressure: 30 bar, seals: FKM (filter) and NBR (pump). A water-separating filter is available as an option in exchange for the other filters. The design, operation, and chassis correspond to the base model 17-0002671; the only difference is the integrated measurement technology.

With this device, it’s particularly beneficial to carry two different fineness settings: The measurement immediately shows whether the coarse setting will achieve the target value or whether you need to switch to the finer setting.
