Water Treatment

Bilge water is generated by leaks, tank drainage, and onboard cleaning processes. Besides saltwater, it contains oil, fuel, lubricants, and soot and dirt particles. These contaminants must never be released into the sea, which is why strict environmental regulations apply, with maximum permissible residual oil concentrations of 15 ppm – and even stricter limits of 5 ppm or less in particularly sensitive areas.

With its bilge water oil separators, Filtration Group offers high-performance, two-stage treatment systems that effectively separate water, oil, and solids. The first stage separates the phases, while the second stage reliably separates even the finest oil droplets down to a size of 1 µm – even stable emulsions and dispersions are reliably removed.

These low-maintenance systems operate without the use of chemicals or thermal energy and comply with IMO Resolution MPEC.107(49) as well as the requirements of all major classification societies. This makes them ideally suited to complying with current and future international environmental standards – from NSA and PSSA to Green Ship and Green Harbour initiatives.
