Globe valves
Buy shut-off valves online - Large selection at FILCOM
Shut-off valves are among the most frequently used components in compressed air and pneumatic systems, as well as in numerous other applications. The fundamental necessity of their function is not surprising. At FILCOM, you can safely purchase a wide range of shut-off valves online, including models with external threads, quick-closing shut-off valves and manual slide valves.
Function and task of shut-off valves
As the name suggests, shut-off valves are used to shut off the flow of both liquid and gaseous media. In addition, partial shut-off is usually also possible, which does not completely stop the flow, but merely restricts or reduces it. Shut-off valves with a simple design can be closed or opened using a control element such as a lever or a thread. When the shut-off valve is used to shut off, the flow is stopped at the corresponding point in the line.
Some models not only offer the option of fully opening or closing, but also allow infinitely variable adjustment to modify the flow rate and flow speed. When selecting a suitable shut-off valve, you should pay particular attention to the material, as this directly influences the tolerable temperature range, the maximum permissible pressure in the pipe system and the valve height.
With a suitable shut-off valve, you can prevent the flow of the following media, for example:
- Compressed air
- Natural gas
- Various fuels and oils
- Water
When making your selection, make sure that the diameter of the shut-off valve matches that of the pipe.
Designs and different shut-off bodies within the shut-off valves
The way in which shut-off valves block the flow depends on the component used in the valve. Discs, cylinders, balls and cones are used here, among others. FILCOM also offers versions with a drain option.
In our range you will find a large number of variations of shut-off valves, including:
- Drain and vent valves
- Manual slide valves
- Shut-off valves with external thread
- Angle shut-off valves
- Socket shut-off valves made of stainless steel or brass
- Quick-closing shut-off valves
With the exception of manual slide valves, most models have a small wheel to control the shut-off function. In the case of manual slide valves, the centrally mounted component is used for shut-off instead. There are also fundamental differences in the design, such as quick-closing shut-off valves or models with integrated external threads. Angle shut-off valves are used particularly in compact areas or in pipe systems with limited space. Thanks to their angular shape, they can be fitted precisely without having to change the structure of the piping.
