Innovative filter systems and oil separators for the highest demands on coolant purity.

Central systems for use on machine tools must meet a wide range of requirements and face various challenges. This includes managing small to extremely small particles from the material removal system and tools, which are often used in three-shift operation, as well as the filtration of various materials that often have to be combined in the same coolant treatment system.

In addition, these systems must constantly cope with temperature loads while simultaneously meeting the highest requirements for the purity and temperature resistance of the cooling lubricant. When using cooling emulsion, oil contamination can also be a concern, which must be removed by effective oil separators. All of these aspects present both customers and suppliers with a multitude of parameters and application criteria to consider.

BELKI Filtertechnik GmbH

The Danish Belki Group and its German partner, Belki Filtertechnik GmbH, have built a global reputation as leading suppliers and manufacturers of filter systems and oil separators for many decades. Their central systems also enjoy an excellent reputation for quality and performance.

Belki central systems are designed exclusively according to the specific requirements of their customers. Starting with a fundamental concept, they design and build central systems that are both efficient and environmentally friendly, while meeting economic requirements. Only in this way can the often highly specialized needs and challenges of companies be optimally addressed.

Challenge

IN-DEPTH TECHNICAL UNDERSTANDING

This approach requires in-depth technical understanding and expertise in handling the process media used, such as grinding oil or aqueous cooling lubricant emulsions. Dosing, cooling, oil separation, particle filtration, degassing, redundancies, and much more, form the foundations upon which the experts build their customized solutions. The optimal handling of these process media is the focus, followed by relieving employees in the production areas of tasks related to media maintenance and ensuring clear and simple system operation. The emphasis on optimal accessibility is particularly well received.

CUSTOM-MADE SOLUTIONS

If necessary, central systems can also be adapted to specific structural conditions. Belki specializes in quickly and efficiently developing and manufacturing additional equipment such as return pump stations, collecting trays, inlet cascades, etc., to ensure optimal setup.

Solution statement

  • Belki's modular BFA filter system was developed to filter cooling lubricants from machining processes.
  • The filter system is flexibly configurable and can be equipped with various components such as magnetic filters, high-pressure pumps, oil separators, and coolers as needed.

HOW THE BFA FILTER SYSTEM WORKS

  • In its basic configuration, the filter system for a customer in the Lower Franconia area consists of a BELKI deep-bed belt filter and an emulsion tank with a capacity of 1,600 liters.
  • Pumps, magnetic filters, and other components can be added as required.
  • The pumps are activated via the machine control system, and the pressure setting of the screw pumps can be continuously adjusted.
  • Additional upgrades such as oil separators, coolers, and magnetic filters are possible and are particularly effective when machining cast iron.
  • A Pi 370 duplex filter from Filtration Group Industrial serves as the backup filter for the sensitive internal cooling system of the machining center.
  • The filter is equipped with 25 µm wire mesh filter elements.

Customer benefit

  • Continuous filtration of coolant offers numerous advantages in terms of quality, reliability, and the working environment. The modular design of the Belki filter system allows for adaptation to individual customer requirements.
  • The equipment can also be subsequently expanded to meet changing needs over the course of machine operation or changes in the production process.
  • The arrangement of filters, pumps, etc., on a steel frame with lifting eyes significantly simplifies assembly and cleaning of the filter system.
  • All components can be assembled in a single lift without the need to disconnect pipes or wires.
  • This saves the customer time and simplifies the maintenance process.
  • The long-term availability and efficiency of equipment are key to high productivity. Thanks to the FILCOM logistics concept, the FG duplex filter was delivered quickly to Belki Filtertechnik.
