Schäfer Kunststofftechnik GmbH, based in 77799 Ortenberg (Baden-Württemberg), is a family-run company with over 60 years of experience in the processing of PLEXIGLAS®, polycarbonate and engineering plastics. Around 100 employees at the site produce customized solutions for the core areas of mechanical engineering, medical technology & laboratory, lighting technology and advertising technology & interior design.
Challenge
Cooling lubricants minimize the wear of expensive precision machines and make a decisive contribution to the surface quality of the manufactured products. The tried-and-tested double-switching filters from Filtration Group Industrial ensure smooth operation without downtime. The high-performance filters provide the optimum basis for efficient, safe and economical production of high-quality goods without interrupting the process during filtration.
Our customer uses the duplex filter as a safety filter (police filter for the filtration of cooling lubricant. A pump draws in the cooling lubricant. The fluid runs back into the spindle via a hose through the filter. In these applications, the duplex filter is installed downstream of the working filter. It has a safety function and provides maximum safety for internally cooled tools, rotary pressure guides and fine machining bores.

- At Schäfer Kunststofftechnik, the FG Pi 370 duplex filter with a size of 300 l is used to filter cooling lubricant on a high-quality 5-axis milling machine.
- The duplex filter ensures reliable operation without downtime. Especially when machining plastic parts with internal cooling of the tool, it is important that the cooling lubricant is free of tiny particles, as otherwise blockages can occur.
- The use of the FG duplex filter Pi 3730-012 ensures efficient filtration and increases the service life of the 5-axis milling machine, ensuring trouble-free operation over a long period of time.
