The TIVAL FF 4 VdS are specially certified for sprinkler systems and fire protection systems. With VdS approval, they offer alarm and manual reset versions in the pressure range 2-16 bar. G 1/2" silumin connection thread guarantees safe integration into water shut-off and fire extinguishing systems.

FF 4 VdS - Pressure switch for fire protection and fire extinguishing systems

The FF 4 VdS is the special fire protection version of the TIVAL Pressure switches with VdS certification (Association of Property Insurers). These pressure switches can be used in sprinkler systems and fire extinguishing systems and meet the highest reliability standards for safety systems. With Perbunan diaphragm technology and a G 1/2" silumin connection thread, the VdS version specializes in water systems in the fire protection sector.

Technical features & Construction

The FF 4 VdS uses the proven Perbunan diaphragm with direct switching mechanism, similar to DAH(G). The housing is made of robust die-cast silumin with an IP54-65 protection rating for damp environments. The connection thread is G 1/2" made of silumin - significantly larger than the standard G 3/8" for higher flow rates in sprinkler systems. The pressure range is limited to 2-16 bar - typical for pressurized water systems. Two versions are available: Alarm switch and manual reset version.

Pressure ranges & areas of application

With a pressure range of 2-16 bar, the FF 4 VdS is ideal for sprinkler systems, fire extinguishing systems and pressure measurement set-ups in fire protection systems. The low minimum pressure of 2 bar (as opposed to 0.11 bar for standard variants) prevents false triggering when pipes are empty. The alarm version is used for pressure drop detection when sprinkler heads are activated. The manual reset version locks after triggering until manually reset - for safety protocol requirements.

Standards & approvals

The FF 4 VdS fulfills VdS certification - this is the central requirement for sprinkler systems in Germany. In addition to VDE 0660, IEC 337-1 and IEC 553-1, the VdS approval provides additional security for insurance requirements. EN 12845 for automatic sprinkler systems is taken into account. DIN 14406 fire extinguishing system standard is fulfilled. IP54-65 protection rating provides protection against moisture and dirt in critical environments.

VdS vs. standard FF 4 variants

While Standard FF 4 DAH(G) can be used universally for industrial applications, VdS specializes in fire protection and sprinkler systems with VdS certification. VdS has a higher minimum pressure (2 bar instead of 0.11 bar) and a larger connection thread (G 1/2" instead of G 3/8"). VdS offers alarm and manual reset safety versions. With only 2 versions available, VdS is highly specialized - the only approved choice for fire protection, not suitable for general industry.
