KAESER Cyclone Separators – Which Model Is Right for Your Compressor?
A water separator upstream of the Refrigeration dryer protects the entire downstream compressed air treatment system. The KAESER KC series includes five models for air delivery rates ranging from 0.9 to 14.2 m³/min. The key factors in selecting a model are the compressor’s air delivery rate and the appropriate connection size.

Why Use a Cyclone Separator in Compressed Air Treatment?
Compressed air from the compressor is warm and saturated with moisture. As it cools in the piping, a large portion of this water condenses. Without a condensate separator, the liquid condensate flows directly into the refrigeration dryer and the Compressed Air Filter – This increases energy consumption and shortens the service life of the filter elements.
A cyclone separator solves this problem through centrifugal separation: The compressed air is set in rotation, causing heavy condensate droplets to be flung against the housing wall and drain downward. The result is significantly drier compressed air at the dryer inlet—without requiring additional energy, since the pressure drop remains minimal.
Supplementary Compressed Air Treatment
The cyclone separator is the first step in compressed air treatment after the compressor. For a complete treatment chain, we recommend:
